This will serve as the foundation for the future of VN-UK International University. The VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education was established under the Decision number 5555/QĐ-BGDT signed on November 22, 2023.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Giles Lever, the British ambassador to Vietnam, Prof. PhD. Bui Van Ga, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Prof. Julia King, the Chancellor of Aston University and business representative for the UK Trade and Investment Department, Assoc. Prof. PhD. Tran Van Nam, President of the University of Danang, and Ms. Cherry Gough, President of the British Association in Vietnam.
In March 2021, at the first meeting of the Council of the University of Danang, term 2021–2025, Dr. Nguyen Thi My Huong, Director of the VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education, presented the proposal to establish the International University under the University of Danang on the basis of upgrading the VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education. The University of Danang will, in accordance with the plan, develop into a top-notch, multidisciplinary educational institution with the goal of becoming a premier university in Vietnam and moving toward Southeast Asian standards.
With the work and success over the years, the Association of Danang Universities has expressed their support for the plan to construct the International University on the basis of upgrading the VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education. The plan has thus far been submitted to the Ministry of Education and Training for feedback. Hopefully, the government will approve the scheme, allowing VNUK to become the public-international university of Central Vietnam.
