Program details

• The exchange period at Aston University takes place in 1 semester or 2 semesters (1 academic year).
• Currently available for VNUK students majoring in International Business and Management and Biomedical Science.
• Each school nominates a maximum of 2 exchange students per year for International Business and Management and 2 exchange students per year in Biomedical Science (or 4 students per semester).

Conditions of participation

• Completed at least 1 year of study at VNUK;
• GPA of at least 2.5/4.0 (up to registration);
• IELTS certificate: from 6.5 (with no skill lower than 6.0) or TOEFL iBT at least 93 (with minimum writing skill 23, listening and speaking skill 19, and reading skill 18); or Pearson 63 or higher (with no skill below 57); or a letter confirming English ability from VNUK;
• Approved by the Head of Department/Dean of the Faculty about program participation and the study intended subjects at Aston;
• Recommended by VNUK.
-> After being selected by VNUK, students will complete the online registration procedure under the guidance of Aston University.

Tuition

• Aston Tuition: free.
• VNUK Tuition: Before leaving for Aston, students must pay tuition fee at VNUK for the semester in which they are studying on exchange. The tuition fee for the exchange term or year depends on the course and the equivalent or recognized number of transfer credits that the student registered. VNUK’s Academic Affairs Office will notify parents and students of this tuition fee before leaving for school.

Average cost of living

• £800 – £1,000 a month (VND 30 million) including accommodation, meals, books, and personal expenses. Aston is located right in the heart of Birmingham, so international students don’t have to spend a lot of money on travel if they choose to live in the university’s dormitory.
• If students choose to rent outside the dormitory, the cost will be higher.

– Students need to check with VFS whether a TB test is required before applying for a visa.
– Visa results: normally 2 to 3 weeks from the date of submission of a complete visa application, excluding weekends and national holidays. Results may take longer depending on the specific profile.

Part-time jobs for international students

Under UK Visas and Immigration regulations, international students are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week during the academic year and work full-time during holidays. The school does not encourage students to overwork because it will affect learning results.
