For many young people, studying abroad is a dream. However, due to financial constraints, a lack of skills, and an unwillingness to be independent, not everyone has the opportunity to achieve the aspiration of studying abroad early or even during the university process. As a result, they have enrolled in an overseas program which can be learnt in their host country and earn a degree from a foreign university.
Yet, there is another type of study abroad that has several significant advantages over studying abroad or studying abroad in place. It is known as a part-time study abroad program or a transfer program. Students in this program study from 1 to 3 years in Vietnam before transferring credits and continuing their studies at a partner university abroad. Students can transfer in one of three ways: 1+3 (1 year in Vietnam, 3 years overseas), 2+2 (2 years in Vietnam, 2 years overseas), or 3+1 (3 years in Vietnam, 1 year overseas). In recent years, the model of university transfer or part-time study abroad has grown in popularity throughout Asia, particularly in Vietnam.
