2. Tuition support

For just £7,900 and after 12 months of study, NTU will directly award you a prestigious Master’s degree. Thus, saving your time and a huge amount of money compared to studying abroad full-time in another country (about 50% less than the original tuition fee of £15,000).

*£7,900 was the tuition for previous academic years (2020, 2021, 2022). Tuition for 2023 MA TESOL will be announced shortly. 

3. Reasonable and effective study time

The 12-month course is divided into 3 parts as follows:

  • The first 3 months of studying in Vietnam – allowing you to familiarize yourself with the international study program without being surprised by the changes in culture and lifestyle in your country, while working to earn extra income to accomodate the study.
  • The next 6 months you will study at Nottingham Trent University to deepen your knowledge and skills with international classmates and teachers.
  • In the last 3 months, you can choose to do your thesis in Vietnam or in the UK with the enthusiastic and thorough assistance of veteran lecturers from both VNUK and NTU.

4. Opportunity to participate in direct teaching at VNUK in the first semester

5. No application and admission fee

The program does not require you to have graduated with a major in English Pedagogy or English Language. REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN THE MA TESOL PROGRAM

1. Diplomas and certificates in English

  • IELTS 6.5 or higher (skills must be 5.5 or higher); or TOEFL 560; or TOEFL iBT 83; or CB TOEFL 220
  • Graduating from a regular university with a cumulative score of 6.7/10 or 2.6/4.0 for the whole course (not required to be pedagogy, English language, just need to be a bachelor’s degree)
  • Subjects of study and registration are Vietnamese

2. Application for admission to the MA TESOL program

a. Personal Statement (Submit with application form):

In this letter, you can write up to 4000 characters (about 800-900 words). To make it easier to understand, you can present the sections as follows:

  • Introduction (Introduce about yourself)
  • Academic background (Provide information about the academic background, qualifications that you have studied and received)
  • Work experience if any (Work experience, especially English teaching experience (if any)
  • Why interested in MA TESOL? Why NTU? (Why do you love and choose MA TESOL and want to study at Nottingham Trent?)
  • Skills/qualities that make you successful in this program/ in a teaching career
  • Conclusion (Conclusion)

b. Attached application form

The program’s manager will send you the registration form via email. You can download the PDF file, fill in all information, print it out, sign it, then scan it and send it to email matesol@vnuk.edu.vn, or submit it directly at the VN-UK Institute for Research and Training (VNUK). – 158A Le Loi, Danang City to be signed by the representative of the MA TESOL program. After that, you will go to VNUK – 158A Le Loi, Danang City to get the application form or receive a scanned copy via personal email.

c. Other requirements

  • Translation and notarization of the University Degree (if the degree is already has English, you just need to notarize it)
  • Translation and notarization of university transcripts
  • Passport scan photo
  • IELTS certificate or TOEFL / TOEFL iBT / CB TOEFL certificate (valid until September 2022)
  • The course will start in late September – early October 2022.
  • Other relevant qualifications (if any).

After completing the documents along with the application form contained the signatures of you and the VNUK program representative, you will need to scan the application and submit it to the following 02 emails: aah_vnuk.admin@ntu.ac.uk and ntuglobal@ntu.ac.uk for review. Before you submit all your documents to these 2 emails, you will be consulted again by the MA TESOL program manager at VNUK.

The course consists of 5 core modules and additional modules (180 credits).

A. Modules

I. Main courses:
1. Exploring English Language Learning and Teaching (40 credits) 
2. Describing English Language (20 credits)
3. Materials and Assessment in Language Teaching (20 credits)
4. Research Methods (20 credits).

II. Optional courses:
Choose one of the following (20 credits each)*:
1. Blended Learning and Computer (Computer-Assisted Language Learning)
2. Teaching English to Young Learners;
3. Intercultural Communication;
4. Vocabulary;
5. English for Academic Purpose;
6. English for Professional Purposes;
7. Materials Development;
8. Teaching Speaking, Listening;
9. Teaching Reading and Writing;

B. Thesis

The thesis is equivalent to 60 credits. This is a research paper about 15,000 words in length; is built on the practical teaching skills, theory and research methods that students have accumulated throughout the course. This is an opportunity for students to choose a research topic of their interest and complete a separate research project that meets the standards set by the program.

Academic year:  2022/2023
MA TESOL tuition: £7900. (£1900 for VNUK and £6000 for NTU)

Other costs: The cost of living in Nottingham depends on how you spend your money and where you choose to live. On average, the estimated monthly cost of a student at NTU hovers around £1015 including accommodation, bills, food, mobile phone, study materials, travel (around Nottingham) and other.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Career Prospects

This course opens new doors and creates many opportunities for students to become university lecturers, own English centers, work abroad and work for international companies in the country.

Graduation thesis, a mandatory requirement in the course, and at the same time offers opportunities for students who want to follow the path of research as well as continue studying to a Doctorate (PhD) program.

2.Teach and Research

In terms of teaching and learning quality, NTU is Golden ranked by education experts in the Teaching  Excellence Framework – the first activity led by the government to assess the quality of the university experience to help students choose the right university and major.

In 2019, NTU was named University of the Year by the Guardian University Awards, adding more to their list of prestigious awards. 3.Student Service

At the same time, Nottingham Trent University’s Student Support Services team was awarded the Certificate of Excellence, according to government standards. Among them, there is a ‘Stay Connected’ service for students staying in Nottingham during the Covid epidemic which has been significantly praised.

The students also voted NTU for the Giving back award from Whatuni. This award recognizes projects and campaigns that involve students actively contributing to the community at local, national and world level. This is not the first time that NTU has been appreciated for supporting and helping students.

In 2017, the Student Services Team at Nottingham Trent University was named the winner of the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management award, for their efforts in supporting student mental health. The jury appreciated the innovation in technology, the integration of residential services and the excellent collaboration with external agencies of NTU. The jury also praised the University’s outstanding features of support, including its “innovative use of information technology, integration of residential services, and outstanding cooperation with others.”

4.International Students

In 2016, Nottingham Trent University won two of six major awards in recognition of their work enhancing the international student experience. The school received the ‘Innovation in the Internationalization of Student Experience’ and ‘Excellence in International Student Support’ awards at the NUS Internationalization Awards.

The university has achieved these awards thanks to two ‘Global Lounges’ that have been around since 2013 as a hub for international activities and opportunities for students. 5.Environmental Friendly

In 2016, Nottingham Trent University was officially recognized as the greenest university in the UK, after receiving the top spot in the People and Planet University League (2016).

The Pavilion Building in Clifton, Nottingham Trent University has received the Guardian University Award in the category of Inspiring Architecture. The building received praise for creating and promoting a more sustainable living and working environment on the university campus, and above all for authentic and enduring value. By utilizing arrays of solar panels, energy-efficient glass, natural sunlight and insulation, the building generates more energy than is needed, and has negative C02 emissions. Opened in 2015, the building has also won a host of other prestigious awards.
